Bulk earth work and volume surveys can have many uses, and various different applications. Generally the survey information recorded will give the surveyor information that can be modelled and compared relative to the design or a base surface.
This information can then be utilised by the contractor to ascertain the amount of cut or fill required for the job that they are involved with. Once the total volume or cubic meters of material, has been measured, the contractor can then manage disposal or acquisition of these materials in advance.
More informative planning, forecasting and placement of large volumes of materials can be invaluable on many jobs. If done correctly this can save valuable time and expenditure.
